Boom. Instant Style.

Boom. Instant Style.

Decorating a space is no small task. Our homes are an extension of who we are, a safe haven to look forward to after a long day. Home is a place where we can both lounge around in our grungy PJ’s one day, then have family and friends over for dinner the next. Lived-in or neat, casual or refined, rustic or ultra modern, a space can say so much about us.

It’s no wonder that it can become so overwhelming to decorate. Is this paint color right? Will the pieces we pick fit--literally and figuratively--in our space? Are they cohesive? Do they match our aesthetic? Do we even have an aesthetic? Can we afford that aesthetic?

Yep. Totally stressful.

On top of that, it’s so easy to scroll through curated spaces on Instagram and other social media platforms and feel major look envy. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stopped on a picture on my Instagram feed and sighed. Next to words of love, my husband has probably heard me say “I want my house to look like that!” more than anything else. I’m usually also shoving my phone in his face to show him what I’m looking at--which is usually a lot of work and waaaaay out of our budget.

So what do we do?

For starters, I love to decorate. L-O-V-E it. I fall asleep at night thinking about decor, about spaces in my home, about homes of loved ones looking for some decor advice. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility for me to spend an entire day scouring Etsy, Pinterest, and the dark recesses of the Interwebs to find pieces that I know in my heart of hearts will look just right (and then I usually add them all to my shopping cart, see the total, laugh/cry, and empty my cart).

When Matt approached me with the idea of Finishing Touches, I was nervous. It’s one thing to decorate my space and maybe help friends--it’s a whole different ballgame to try to help others.

And yet the idea was so appealing! I knew if something similar existed I would’ve already saved up my pennies for a purchase or two. So why not?

Why not? Those two words are so powerful, and we knew if we didn’t try we’d regret it.

So now we’ve been working ever since to bring you things we know you’ll really enjoy. Our hope is to create collections of decor pieces that you can purchase as a curated set, install in an hour or so, and be done. We want to be able to give you that feeling of home without all the stress in-between.

Like, boom. Instant style. Look at me go. Hey, let me take this selfie with my iced coffee and this super cozy blanket and custom wood sign in the background. No biggie. This is my life now.

What was that? Oh. Yeah. Ignore that pile of laundry and just acknowledge that this is my life now. I am a Decorating Goddess. I don’t use that Snapchat flower crown filter for nothing.

As we progress, we’ll be branching out and offering more decor boxes for more spaces, with more aesthetics. Each box takes a lot of work from first iteration to finish (more on that later), and we try really hard to pick pieces that are neutral enough to work in many spaces without lacking personality.

If I can in any way help you achieve Decorating Goddess status through this business, then I’ll be a happy girl. I hope you’ll be happy too.
